Nestled between L’Acciaro and Palombaggia, Tamaricciu Beach is one of the iconic landscapes of Southern Corsica. Pale sand, crystal-clear water, umbrella pines and white rocks create an almost unreal setting. Yet, like many beautiful places, Tamaricciu can quickly lose some of its charm in the height of summer, when towels overlap and crowds fill the shoreline. When staying at Bella Sotta, the idea is not to avoid it, but to discover it at the moment when it reveals its true character.
Tamaricciu has all the qualities of a perfect beach, which makes it one of the most popular spots in the region in July and August. During the day, the beauty of the site can sometimes be overshadowed by the bustle, crowded car parks and the density of visitors drawn by its turquoise water and blond sand.
By contrast, from spring through early summer, and again in September and October, the beach regains its natural softness. The sea becomes a calm mirror, the light turns more golden and the setting feels authentic once more. It is during these periods that you truly understand why Tamaricciu ranks among the island’s most beautiful beaches.
For us, who deeply love the sea and the beaches of Southern Corsica, Tamaricciu remains close enough to Palombaggia to retain its Corsican soul even in high summer. For this reason, in August we tend to favour L’Acciaro for pure relaxation—but here is a way to enjoy Tamaricciu as well!
Even in the middle of August, Tamaricciu can become a peaceful interlude once again. It all comes down to timing. Heading to the beach in the late afternoon changes everything. From around 6:30 pm, the atmosphere shifts. Families leave, the heat softens, sounds fade and the sea returns to an almost still calm. The light grows gentler, colours deepen and the landscape settles.
It is during this suspended moment that it feels right to lay down a towel, settle into the still-warm sand glowing with light, and share an aperitif facing the horizon. Even in peak season, Tamaricciu then regains something intimate, almost confidential. This feeling of being elsewhere while remaining close to everything is part of what we love to share with our guests at Bella Sotta.
A beautiful family moment with our friends Delphine and Alex!
From Sotta, Tamaricciu is one of those places you can reach easily, without difficulty or constraint. The drive is straightforward, the scenery beautiful and the access close enough for the experience to remain effortless.
Three things make this escape particularly enjoyable when staying at Bella Sotta: proximity, the freedom to choose the right moment, and the certainty of finding an exceptional setting. The route avoids the major roads that become congested in summer, making the arrival gentler and the experience far more pleasant than when coming from the north of Porto-Vecchio.
Under these conditions, Tamaricciu becomes a spontaneous pleasure—a place you visit because the hour feels right, because the light is calling, or simply because you want to enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas in Southern Corsica.
Simply head towards Porto-Vecchio before turning off towards Palombaggia. The car park is located above the beach, and a short path leads down to the shore in just a few minutes. The beach is beautiful year-round and especially enjoyable in the late afternoon, when the crowds thin out and the light becomes softer.
